We have known the term ‘democracy’ since its origins in ancient Greece. But what characterises a democracy? And how is our attitude towards the future of the community and state in which we live changing?

A new rift is running through the foundations of our society, and one of the most pressing questions is how we can build a new sense of cohesion. How can we get a new perspective on all the facades of democracy?

Johanna Reich did research on the word ‘democracy’ and trained a small language model on democratic concepts and history. The SLM is producing now poetic descriptions of the word democracy, it sheds new light on every facet of this word.

Der Begriff „Demokratie“ stammt aus dem Griechischen und bedeutet „Herrschaft des Volkes“. Doch was zeichnet eine Demokratie aus? Und wie verändert sich aktuell unsere Haltung zur Zukunft der Gemeinschaft, des Staates, in dem wir leben und mitbestimmen dürfen? Ein neuer Riss geht durch das Fundament unserer Gesellschaft und eine der dringendsten Fragen ist, wie wir einen neuen Zusammenhalt aufbauen können. Mit Hilfe eines Small Language Models hat Johanna Reich das Wort „Demokratie“ untersucht, dessen Facetten aufgeschlüsselt, mit Hilfe der KI spielerisch neue Worte gefunden und generiert, um einen anderen Blick auf die Grundfeste unserer Demokratie zu werfen.
